Phyno and Chike link up for “Kriptonite,” a smooth Afro-fusion love record from the rapper’s Let That Sink In (LTSI) album. The Penthauze leader trades his street rap stance for something softer here, while Chike handles the vocal weight.
“Kriptonite” arrives as one of the romance cuts on LTSI, and it fits the moment. Fans of Afro-fusion have been asking for sincere love songs lately, so this pairing answers that call.
Phyno holds his own with that trademark raspy flow, easing through the slow pace with Igbo-English lines about how fragile love can be. Chike then lifts the arrangement with soaring vocals and a hook that crowns his lover his “kriptonite.”
The production keeps things mid-tempo, built on acoustic guitar strings, soft piano pads and snappy shakers. A steady drum pattern rides a warm bassline, but the mix leaves room for every vocal detail to breathe.
