Stella Lefty’s debut single “Boston” has topped Country Airplay for a second straight week, and the record keeps rewriting country history.
Billboard reports she is the first solo-billed woman with a debut single to lead that chart for multiple weeks since Gretchen Wilson. Wilson’s “Redneck Woman” managed five weeks back in 2004, so the gap stretched twenty-two years.
The climb began quietly. “Boston” entered the Hot 100 at number 95, then kept moving until it peaked at number two. Atlantic Outpost released it, and it leads her debut album “Long Way Home.”
The song carries a backstory. Lefty wrote it after starting a relationship with country singer Vincent Mason. She shared an unfinished chorus on TikTok before recording the full version, and fans responded fast.
Comparisons to Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” followed. Lefty says she did not model the song on it, yet her team still agreed to give Kahan a songwriting credit. Grace Enger, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, and Joe Reeves also share writing credits.
She has VMA nominations for Best New Artist and Best Country too. A tour is planned for 2027, so “Boston” is far from finished.
