Fireboy DML – KILOWI

Nigerian singer Fireboy DML keeps his Yoruba roots close, and his new record “KILOWI” lands straight from that same well.

“KILOWI” sits on his 2026 album ZUKO!, with BIG FISH handling the production. The title echoes the Yoruba question “Kí lo wí?”, which means “What did you say?” So the phrase carries a conversational weight his fans already know well.

Fireboy DML, born Adedamola Adefolahan, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter signed to YBNL Nation, the label Olamide founded. He has built a career on blending English songwriting with indigenous Yoruba idioms, and that mix has followed him across four studio albums.

Listeners have been waiting to see how he would stretch that formula on ZUKO!. “KILOWI” answers with a longer runtime of about four minutes and forty-two seconds, which gives the arrangement room to breathe instead of rushing to a hook. It is a small choice, but it hints at an artist more interested in texture than quick radio wins.
