Fireboy DML – MIMI NAWE

MIMI NAWE by Fireboy DML

Fireboy DML – KILOWI

Nigerian Afropop singer Fireboy DML returns with “MIMI NAWE,” a Swahili-titled record tucked inside his new album “ZUKO!” for listeners across the continent. Yung Willis handles the production, and the beat carries the song from its first bar.

The track sits on “ZUKO!,” the singer’s fifth studio album, which also houses “Goddess,” “Fighting,” “Claat” and “IMALI.” Because the title is Swahili, the phrase loosely means “me and you,” so the song leans into East African flavour rather than staying inside his usual Lagos sound.

Fireboy DML, born Adedamola Adefolahan, signed with Olamide’s YBNL Nation in 2018 and has since built a catalog that blends Afrobeats with modern R&B. “MIMI NAWE” follows that same instinct, yet the arrangement leaves room for the melody to breathe instead of crowding it.

Yung Willis keeps the drums light and lets the vocal sit forward, so the groove never fights the singing. The result is a record that feels unhurried, although it still moves.
